I have always been passionate about meeting people where they are at while providing a safe and non-judgmental space to share. I understand the value of affirming identities and acknowledging strengths. I have experience working with youth, individuals struggling with addictions and mental health challenges, overwhelmed parents, and front line workers with burn out or compassion fatigue.
As a Therapist, I am motivated to help individuals reprocess their traumas, find tools to support emotional regulation, and encourage goal attainment. As a Chemical Dependency Counsellor, I see addiction as a form of resiliency. In the beginning, we use substances to address pain, mental health challenges, or to enhance performance. Then, for some, substance or behavioural addictions can have substantial consequences. As we move through life we may realize the addiction needs to be addressed. My hope is to support and strengthen the motivation to encourage change. I encourage my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings with the intention of supporting a change behaviour. I highly recommend and incorporate mindfulness practice and other self soothing techniques. I hold the strong belief that people are perfectly imperfect. They are beautiful and spectacular but can also become stuck, unhappy and unable to live a fulfilling life. That’s where I come in.
As a passionate Registered Social Worker, my experience allows me to understand the best ways to address each client’s needs in an effective manner. I am flexible in my approach and use collaboration as the basis of my therapy. I provide strength-based encouragement while incorporating a variety of therapeutic modalities, including motivational interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and EMDR.
